LIGHTING
Into the Woods
Lighting Designer
Seminole High School
Fall 2019
As the lead lighting designer, I oversaw the implementation of all of the lighting elements in the show, as well as programmed all of the lighting cues. I had to work with my two lighting assistants as well as the director to create the magical woods to bring this production to life.
My lighting plot was drawn on the theater classroom white board. I had the stage manager draw the set and in my meetings with the director, I drew the light zones on top of it. This method was very effective, as during the process of the show, the set design and lighting design changed, and I could efficiently note these changes in a public spot.
In this scene, the Baker holds his baby as his wife comes back to him as a ghost. I used Top Lighting to create shadows to add to the ghostly feel.
In this scene, the Witch is being caring towards Rapunzel, who wishes to run away from her. The blue lights on the cyc represents Rapunzel's depression and the Witch's power over her.
While Cinderella gets what she wishes, to attend the ball, she is still sad at the time of the First Midnight, which is shown here. The darker lights show the time, midnight, and Cinderella's sadness.
I wanted the whole scene t be washed in red lights to convey both Little Red, and the danger she is in with the Wolf.
I wanted the forest to be washed in green gels almost haphazardly, to get the feeling of the sun cascading through the trees in different parts of the forest.
On the cyc behind the actress, there are tree branches projected using gobos from side lighting trees, which changed and differentiated from different parts of the forest.
For several of the Witch's scenes, I used a lot of top lighting as well as purples and blues to get the mystical and mysterious feeling of the Witch as she hides her face.

High School Musical
Lighting Designer
Seminole High School
Spring 2019
In my second production of High School Musical, I had the responsibility of planning and designing the light scheme, moving the lights into the correct plots, as well as operating the lighting board during the show.
My first attempt at a full light plot, I sectioned off the stage and created lighting zones where I focused lights.
While looking unorganized, these notes helped me determine which lights on the catwalk to use to light each zone, making sure to use crosshatching to get the fewest shadows.
This page from my script shows the lighting cues and sound cues that I had to hit for the show.
This cue list shows all of the 90 lighting cues in the show.
